Official video released for new single “What Happened”

In August 2011, Ras Arcane shot a video with the Brown Brothers for the upcoming single, “What Happened.” The track, which should be on I-Tunes soon, is a product of Humble Camp Productions and is a feature track off of Arcane’s upcoming album. Shot in Norristown, Pa, the video depicts the story of the artist speaking out against the corruption and abuse of the modern day church. More specifically, the song addresses the taboo issue of the molestation of the youth by the church’s priests. Sensitive as it may be, it is an issue that requires attention and addressing as it only continues to get worse. While no personal or religious offense is meant, this song is written with no apology. There are no excuses and this MUST STOP NOW. Click here to view the video on YouTube’s site.

DJ Cramske & Ras Arcane in California

Years ago, Ras Arcane and DJ Cramske linked up as members of Burndown All-Stars, a 12 piece Philly based live hip-hop crew. After the dissolving of Burndown, the two continued to work together on several singles including “World in a Bottle” featuring Sara Lugo, “When I Was Young,” “Motivate,” “Free the Herb,” and several others. In addition, they worked together on Ras Arcane’s “Get 2 Know U: The Official Mixtape – Chapter 1.” On September 24, 2011 they performed their first live set together at the “Good Hip Hop” series hosted at Jasper O’Farrell’s in Sebastoplol, Ca. The night was part of a monthly residency put together by local DJ’s including DJ Fossil, DJ Jason the Argonaut, DJ Capsize and DJ BigJohnStud. The set was primarily designed as a hip hop performance, utilizing much of Ras Arcane’s more emcee based material. After a hype show and a warm crowd reception, many more are sure to come.

Freeborn & Ras Arcane “Blaze Fire”

On Saturday August 6, 2011 artists Freeborn and Ras Arcane joined forces for an acoustic show at Milkboy Coffee house in Ardmore, Pa. Arcane and Freeborn linked in Philadelphia at Humble Camp Studios and soon after began building songs and rehearsing together. An opportunity to open for fellow Philadelphia band, Whitewater Pass, provided the perfect setting for an all acoustic set showcasing these new songs. A short preview video made for the show is still online and can be viewed here. Acoustic guitar, Nyabinghi drums and some select percussion set the tone for an intimate yet powerful performance. There will definitely be more to come in the future, so keep an eye out.

2011: First Set of Live Shows Prove Successful

Beginning in January 2011 Ras Arcane hit the stage once again. As an artist who has always appreciated aspects of both the live environment and the studio, he has always been searching for a way to bring those two worlds together. More precisely, how to bring the studio’s capabilities to the live atmosphere. Finally, that merge has begun to take form. Armed with the Akai APC40, Ableton, a MacBook Pro, Serato, two Technics turntables, The Bridge, Samplers, Midi Keyboards, V Drums, Horns, Percussion and Vocals, Ras Arcane and camp create a unique blend of original reggae, dancehall, dub and a whole lot more via a polished and dynamic sound in a live setting. The project features Adam Flicker on keys and horns, SensiStar (Royal Majestic Sound) on the APC and turntables, and Wes Rast on drums and percussion. The first show was January 8, 2011 at North Star Bar in Philadelphia and the second was at Kuf Knotz’s ‘Boombox Collective’ event at World Cafe Live on February 8th. The shows featured different sets and provided the audience with a look into the new project and songs from Arcane’s upcoming album. Ras Arcane, Cise & El Feco B release single for “Made Fresh: Vol. 1″ Mixtape

In January 2010, Philadelphia based clothing company FreshMeltWater released the mixtape “Made Fresh: Vol. 1,” featuring some of Philly’s finest talent including Truck North, Guru, Cee Knowledge, Wale, Reef the Lost Cauze, Hezekiah and many others. Drew.ish from Dephonic approached Ras Arcane about submitting a track for the album, and Leader’s Conference was the result. Jah T Jr and Humble Camp Productions made the riddim specifically for the project, and it was decided to also feature other Philly artists; rapper Cise, and reggae/dancehall artist El Feco B. The song in a sense represents Humble Camp’s presence in the music world, blending the vibes of reggae and dancehall with the local hip hop energy they are surrounded by.
